Our Onsite, Custom Guide School is a full service program focusing on building the knowledge and skills required to establish a successful career in the Outfitting Business. Unlike many programs that typically emphasize one speciality such as packing, or wrangling, or outdoors-menship, our program covers the full spectrum of:
Backcountry navigation
Hunting strategies and tactics (elk, deer, bear) - game movement and habits, reading terrain, planing your hunt, stalking, still hunting, blinds, trails, parks, wallows, bedding, use of thermals, tracking, and a verity of do's and don'ts.
Livestock (horses) wrangling, packing, managing, and controlling for a safe and timely experience.
Camp set up and management
Customer (Client) management and success - maximizing customer satisfaction, outfitter returns and personal gratuity - hunter introductions, understanding personalities and preference styles at the onset of the hunt (Myers-Briggs style matching), when to listen, when to assert yourself and how to do it, don't-guide-the-guide principles, teaching-not-telling, getting your client in position, shots and no-shots, post hunt correspondence.
Working as a "guide-team"
Business Basics (marketing, booking customers, growing revenue, managing expenses).
